This project is setup to reduce the effort required by volunteers to translate Firefox into their language. You can translate online and allow your community to join you in translating or making translation suggestions and correction. You can also download PO files and translate offline if required.
Aurora is the pre-release version of Firefox. Whatever is translated here will appear in Firefox after at least 12 weeks. We only make 2-3 commits during a 6 weeks Aurora cycle or on special request.
Please following our Phases document to understand which parts you should be translating first.
For those teams that are not officially in Mozilla Aurora we also build language packs to allow you to demonstrate Firefox to your community.
We also make commits and do signoff for your team. You can optionally do this yourself but it does require that you have some Linux knowledge.
If you would like to add a new language then please make sure you have followed the Mozilla process for new languages. If you want to migrate your language onto Pootle, then please make your request on the Mozilla localisation list and point us to your existing translations.
We have a low volume announcement list that we ask you to join. Here we will communicate deadlines and point out any issues with your translations. You can also ask localisation and Firefox questions here.
